This journal will not give you a new technique. No “5 steps to success.” No motivational speeches. It will simply hold up a mirror — showing you the things you already know but refuse to acknowledge. The realities that exist but you choose to look away from.
If reading this causes pain in your heart — that is a good thing. A dead heart feels no pain. Pain is the sign of life.
Deception #1 — The Media: The Greatest Teacher of Lies
Think: everything you know about “current affairs” today — where did you learn it? From a screen. From a channel. From a newspaper. And that screen, that channel, that newspaper — whose money does it run on?
In 2003, America attacked Iraq in the name of “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” The entire Western media spoke with one voice in support. Later, the UN itself confirmed there were no WMDs. Over 500,000 people died. No one apologised. The media moved on. This is just one example. There are thousands like it. And yet we continue to trust that same media.
“The Quran said: If a corrupt person brings you news — verify it. But we have reversed the rule: the bigger the channel, the more we believe — the smaller the voice, the more we dismiss.”
Deception #2 — The World: The Dream That Never Comes True
A person spends their entire life working — a good home, a good car, status, respect. They get everything. And then? Then they want more. A bigger house. A better car. Even more status. The Prophet ﷺ said: If the son of Adam had a valley of gold, he would desire a second. If he had a second, he would desire a third. And nothing fills the belly of man except dust.
“The world’s greatest deception: it tells you “earn just a little more — then you will find peace.” But that “just a little more” never ends. And one day — suddenly — it all slips away.”
Deception #3 — The Ego: The Nearest Enemy
Iblis’s work is not very difficult — he simply causes your own ego to convince you that this is fine, that it’s acceptable, that just this once it doesn’t matter. The nafs al-ammarah is the part of the self that constantly pushes toward evil. It makes sins appear small. It constructs justifications. “No one is watching.” “I’ll seek forgiveness later.” “I’m only doing it once.” “Everyone does this.”
The Prophet Yusuf alaihissalam — the most handsome man in the world — when placed in trial, said: “And I do not absolve myself of blame — indeed the soul inclines toward evil.” — Quran 12:53. This was the prophet whose steadfastness everyone cites as an example — and even he understood the power of the ego.
“The greatest warrior is the one who battles his own ego. An external enemy is in one place — the ego’s enemy is within, always present, always travelling with you.”
Deception #4 — The System: Are You Free or a Prisoner?
You think you are free. You can eat when you like, go wherever you want. But think — can you buy a house without an interest-based loan? Can you legally exist without filing your taxes? The entire world is a prisoner of a system that has been named “freedom.” The education system teaches you to become someone’s employee. The financial system teaches you to take a loan and spend your whole life repaying it. The entertainment system teaches you: don’t worry — just enjoy.
And Islam? Islam says: Worship Allah alone — worship no one else. Earn what is permissible — and even when the halal is difficult, do not take the haram. This is a revolutionary way of thinking — and this system fears it.
Deception #5 — False Leaders: Those Who Take You Down With Them
On the Day of Judgement, there will be a scene — people who followed their leaders, their celebrities, their influencers in this world. They will say: “We followed them.” And those leaders will say: “What is our fault — they chose us themselves.” The Quran described this scene: “And they will look at one another. The followers will say: O our Lord, these people misled us.” — Quran 7:38.
Who are today’s false leaders? The politicians who sell their religion for personal gain. The religious scholars who issue rulings to please the powerful. The influencers who are making a haram lifestyle look glamorous. The celebrities you consider role models.
“Whoever you follow in this world — they will lead you on the Day of Judgement too. So be careful — where are you going?”
